
First impressions aren’t always what they seem. Take this cute little bunny. It looks like a cuddly companion for a small child, but closer inspection reveals that this furry friend might be more appropriate for the smoker in your life instead. In fact, those who smoke may be the only ones who can appreciate both the rabbit’s appearance and its distinct perfume, a tobacco stench made possible by fur made from old cigarette filters.

Artist Tom Deininger collected discarded smokes from beach parking lots to create the above rabbit - which his website says “reeks of tobacco” - as well as this smelly shell:

It’s great that the artist is doing his part to divert waste and clean up some of the litter on our beaches, but is there an actual appeal for such pieces? Despite being quite admirable from afar, a close-up view of Deininger’s recycled cigarette art, below, is not so very appetizing.
